Coming Up...
Utah Valley State will host Boise State on Wednesday at 7:05pm MT before traveling to Pocatello, Idaho for its first road contest of the season at Idaho State on Saturday at 2pm.

The game against Boise will be the final of seven straight at home to open the season. The Wolverines were hoping for a fast start and so far that has held true, with five wins in six chances and the only loss coming in double overtime to Utah.

UV has struggled mightily in the past against Boise State. Playing one time each in its first three NCAA D-I seasons, Utah Valley has lost by 37, 27 and 30 points to the Broncos, an average of 31 points per game. Last season, BSU defeated the Wolverines 85-55 in Boise.

It will be the third and final game this season against a WAC opponent. UV is 2-0 so far with wins over Utah State and New Mexico State.

Utah Valley is 1-2 all-time against Idaho State, earning its first victory against the Bengals last season, 83-74, in the McKay Center.

Cathy Nixon's club is off to its best start since jumping to NCAA Division-I Athletics at 5-1. The previous best start was 3-1 in the first season, with all three wins coming against non-D-I schools.

Fairbanks Named Player of the Week...
Robyn Fairbanks was named Division-I Independent Player of the Week after averaging 23.7 points and 12 rebounds per game as Utah Valley State was a perfect 3-0 last week.

She had 17 points and 13 rebounds in a 75-44 win over San Diego State and 21 points and nine rebounds in just 15 minutes in a 84-57 win over Southern Virginia. She capped off the week with a career high 33 points to go along with 14 boards in a 79-72 win over New Mexico State.

She shot 30-for-45 (.667) from the field during the week and is currently ranked 5th nationally in scoring.

A Look at the Numbers...
Fairbanks' 22.7 points and 10 rebounds per game are ranked first among all Division-I Independent players. She is also third in field goal percentage (.626) and blocks (1.5).

Freshman Asumi Nakayama rankes first in assists at 5.0 per game and is third in three point percentage (.429) and fourth in steals (3.17). Veva Ahlstrom is tied for second with 3.33 steals per game while Sandy Marvin and Hollie Beaman are tied with an average of 4.0 assists per game.

As a team, Utah Valley is first in scoring offense, averaging 79.2 points per game and first in scoring margin, beating opponents by 15.0 points per game.

The Road Ahead...
After playing its first seven games at home, Utah Valley will have to take the next step in proving it can also win on the road. The Wolverines have won just one road game against a Division-I opponent in the school's NCAA history. That came during the 05-06 season at Northern Colorado in a game played at a somewhat neutral location.

Still though, only two of the first 13 games will be played outside of the McKay Center. In all, 17 games out of 28 will be in Orem this season.

Scouting the Broncos...
Boise State is 3-2 after a heartbreaking loss to Pitt during Thanksgiving weekend at a tournament in Eugene, Oregon. After knocking off host Oregon 56-47 in the opening round, the Broncos led by two with in the closing seconds when Pitt's Shavonte Zellous hit a three to win it.

Jessica Thompson leads three Broncos in double figure scoring with an average of 13.8 points per game. Michelle Hessing is currently averaging 11.8 per contest while Tasha Harris is at 10.8 ppg.

Scouting the Bengals...
Idaho State is 0-4 entering Tuesday night's contest against Wyoming in Pocatello. It's the home opener for the Bengals, who have lost at BYU, Utah State, Nevada and Arkansas-Little Rock to open the season.

All-Big Sky Natalie Doma is averaging 18.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game so far this season to lead ISU.

Idaho State will make the return trip to Orem on January 6th, in a game that will be played in the Shurian Family Activity Center.

Looking Ahead...
Utah Valley State will resume the in-state portion of the schedule next week. The next three games will be against schools from Utah beginning with Southern Utah in Orem on December 7th at 7:05pm.

UV will travel to Ogden to take on Weber State on December 9th at 2pm before rounding out the local schedule with BYU in the McKay Center on December 9th.
