The Wolverines (13-3) moved to 9-0 at home with a 65-56 win over Nevada on Wednesday, but have lost their last three road games as they face the Aggies (9-3) who are 6-1 inside the Pan American Center. 13-3 is best 16-game record Utah Valley has had in five seasons of playing NCAA Division I basketball. In the win over Nevada, Robyn Fairbanks finished with 28 points and 13 rebounds for her 26th career double double and became the first Utah Valley player to pass 1,500 career points. Sandy Marvin's 18.1 points per contest also has her rated among the top 50 scorers in the country. On Tuesday, Fairbanks was named the Division I independent player of the week, the third time in six weeks this season that she has won the award. She leads the independent players in points, rebounds and shooting percentage, hitting 56.1% from the field, and is second in blocks (1.1 bpg). Following the game at New Mexico State the Wolverines will travel to Colorado to face Denver on Tuesday. After that, they will have over two weeks off before playing at CSU Bakersfield on January 24th in their first of 10 straight games to close out the season against independent schools. |
