UVU to Compete in Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational
Nov. 26, 2007
OREM, Utah - For the fifth consecutive year the Utah Valley wrestling team will participate in the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Fri., Nov. 30 and Sat., Dec. 1. The tournament, one of the largest in the nation, will feature talent from 48 schools across the nation. UVU head coach Greg Williams said he's not expecting his team to come home with a lot of awards, but the weekend will serve as a helpful measuring stick for the program. "This is one of the toughest tournaments we'll see all year," Williams said. "There will be a lot of ranked teams and ranked individuals there. We're hoping to see where some of our bigger kids stack up, and there will be enough of a mix to get some of our smaller guys in there. It's one of those things that will prepare us for two years down the road." The Wolverines' best showing in the 26th annual tournament came in 2003 when UVU finished 24th out of 43 schools with a total score of 31. |
