Wrestler Signs Letter of Intent
Nov. 21, 2007
OREM, Utah - Utah Valley wrestling head coach Greg Williams announced Josh Wilson has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete at UVU at the start of the 2008-09 season. Wilson, a Morgan, Utah native, is a two-time state champion and three-time state finalist out of Morgan High School. He placed third in the High School Nationals as a senior and will compete for the Wolverines in the 149-pound weight division. Williams, who coached Wilson for seven years in club wrestling, said he is excited to have Wilson join the team. "Josh is a great leader, a tremendous talent, and his work ethic and desire is equal to that of our top wrestlers," Williams said. "We expect great things from him. He is the type of young man that will demonstrate the class of athlete on and off the mat that we expect here at Utah Valley." Wilson is also a highly accomplished student, boasting a 3.96 GPA at Morgan High. His parents, Kelly and Leisa Wilson, said they are proud of the hard work their son has put in to achieve this goal. "We're very excited for him," Leisa said. "We're excited he'll be close and we'll be able to see him compete. I think it will be a challenge for him, but he is disciplined. He is an awesome, good kid." Heavily recruited by UC Davis, Wyoming, Rider and Boston College, Wilson is currently serving an LDS church mission in Leeds, England. |
