Sam Allen Named December Scholar Athlete of the Month

OREM, Utah - Wrestler Sam Allen has been named the Utah Valley Athletic Department's Perry Homes Scholar Athlete of the Month for December. Allen, a Business Management major with an emphasis in Marketing, is a senior from Kaysville, Utah where he wrestled at Davis High School. He has a cumulative GPA of 3.32 and, during the fall semester, he achieved a 3.91 grade point average. One of the team captains, Allen had a successful month on the mat. In a dual against UC Davis, Allen pinned his opponent in the second period and at the Reno Tournament of Champions later in the month, picked up four wins for Utah Valley. Recently, Allen pinned his opponent in the opening period of the Wolverines' first conference match, a convincing 39-4 win over South Dakota State. Each sport at UVU is represented by a Scholar-Athlete selection monthly throughout the year. These student-athletes are recognized for performing above and beyond on the playing field and in the classroom. The honorees are recognized at the monthly Wolverine Club luncheon and again at the annual Hall of Fame Banquet. |
