Utah Valley Drops Three Duals

Jan. 6, 2007

Orem, Utah - Playing in its toughest tournament of the season, Utah Valley State had its streak of three consecutive dual wins snapped as the Wolverines went 0-3 at the Lonestar Duals.

UV lost to North Carolina and Army in the morning before losing to the Sooners in the evening.

The Wolverines fell 36-9 to the Tar Heels. Justin Morrill (141) picked up a decision win for Utah Valley, edging Mike Rappo 7-5. Marc Fenwick (174) was the other UV wrestler to score team points with a forfeit victory over Alex Maciag.

Against Army, the Wolverines' Justin Rawle (149), who wrestled well throughout the day, pinned Brock Epps (2:21). Rawle proved to be the only team scorer for UV as the tough Army team was too much for the Wolverines. Dustin Olsen (165) was competitive but Ultimately lost a 5-3 decision to Jon Drew. Army finished with a 41-6 win.

In the night cap, Oklahoma coasted to a 47-0 win. Rawle was the closest to score team points as he dropped a 4-3 decision to Nolan Spring.

The Wolverines have their home opener next Saturday as they welcome Western Wrestling Conference foe Northern Colorado to Orem. The meet will start at 7 p.m. (MST)
