Johnson Resigns Position as Director of Golf and Men's Head Coach

Jan. 4, 2007

Orem, Utah - Tommy Johnson has resigned his position as the Director of Golf and Head Men's Golf Coach at Utah Valley State. He has spent the last two and a half years leading the golf program in Orem.

"Tommy has been a big part of our move into Division-I Athletics and we appreciate the time he has spent here at Utah Valley State. We wish him the best in his future endeavors," said Director of Athletics Mike Jacobsen. "Our student athletes are our primary concern right now and we need to make decisions that are best for them."

Johnson helped foster the career of 2006 Division-I Independent Player of the Year Nic van Vuuren and also oversaw the addition of women's golf at Utah Valley State during the summer of 2005.

Under Johnson, the Wolverine golf team has seven top-10 finishes and a second place finish at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate Tournament in 2004.

Utah Valley State begins its spring season in just over one month at the Thunderbird Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George.
