Wolverines in 17th After First Day at Cougar Classic

PROVO, Utah - Utah Valley shot a combined score of +23 (599) and is currently in 17th place after two rounds of the Ping Cougar Classic at Riverside Country Club in Provo. The Wolverines were lead by Nic van Vuuren, who shot a 2-under 70 in the second round, eight shots better than his opening round score and is tied for 47th. Jeff Gibson (+5, t-55th), Andrew Smith (+6, t-64th), Chris Cole (+11, t-87th) and Dustin Robinson (+14, t-95th) round out the UV golfer's scores. BYU's Jake Ellison is 11-under after the first two rounds and leads Dustin Pimm of Utah and Chase Cooper of Nevada by four strokes. Host BYU has a commanding 14 stroke lead (-26) over second place Nevada, which shot 12-under as a team. The final 18 holes will take place beginning Saturday morning. |
