van Vuuren Tied for First at Pat Hicks Invitational

St. George, Utah - Utah Valley senior Nic van Vuuren shot a opening round 67 (-6) and is tied with three other golfers for first place at the Pat Hicks Invitational, played the par 73, 6,781-yard Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George. As a team the Wolverines are in 17th place after shooting a team score of 301, two shots behind McNeese State. Tournament host Southern Utah is leading the way after shooting 282, four shots better than second place Denver. van Vuuren is tied with Jacksonville University's Duncan Stewart, Grand Canyon's Donald Zaruba III and Colorado State's Bryce Hanstad. Adam Tayler shot a 77 and is tied for 76th while Dustin Robinson (78, t-83), Andrew Smith (79, t-91) and Jordan Rogers (83, t-102) round out the Wolverines competing as a team. Chris Cole shot a 78 playing as an individual and is currently tied for 83rd. The final 18 holes will take place beginning tomorrow morning. |
