OREM, Utah - Utah Valley junior Marcus Moore was named the Division-I Independent Pitcher of the Week for his performance last week in a 6-4 win over Utah. It's the second time this year that Moore has won the award. He struck out 13 batters in throwing his third complete game of the season. Moore allowed four runs on nine scattered hits in earning the win over the Utes, the third time he has beaten the in-state rival this season. After striking out 10 at #6 Arizona State on Wednesday night, Moore has reached double digits in strikeouts in four of his seven starts this season. Utah Valley will wrap up the 2007 season next week as it hosts the 2007 Division I Independent Championship. The Wolverines will play four games in the seven-team tournament, beginning on Wednesday against North Dakota State. |
