Moore & Jensen Named March Scholar Athletes; Vidmar to Speak at Luncheon
April 9, 2007 Orem, UT- Utah Valley State baseball player Marcus Moore and softball player Corie Jensen have been selected as the March Scholar Athletes of the Month. The two will be recognized at the Tuesday's Wolverine Club Luncheon. The luncheon will take place at 11:45 a.m. in the South Presidential Suite of the McKay Center. Olympic Gold Medalist gymnast Peter Vidmar will also speak at the luncheon. Jensen has a 3.75 GPA and is majoring in Behavioral Science. For the month of March she hit .354 with two homeruns and 11 RBI. She also pitched the Wolverines to three wins. Jensen was named MVP the Saint Mary's Invitational where she helped guide UV to a 5-0 finish. During that stretch she hit .563 with one homerun and nine RBI. Moore has a 3.43 GPA while majoring in Physical Education/Recreation. On the field, the junior from Roy, Utah had a 2.31 ERA and two saves during the month of March. Recently he made his first career NCAA start against Utah and threw a complete-game three-hitter. He struck out seven and allowed just one earned run in an 18-1 win in front of a record crowd of 2,013. Vidmar is a member of the US Olympic Hall of Fame. He won two gold medals and one silver medal in gymnastics at the 1984 Olympic Games. Vidmar is a Wolverine Club Advisory Board Member. Utah Valley State head coaches Steve Gardner (Baseball), Todd Fairbourne (Softball), and Scott Houle (Track/Cross Country) will also update those in attendance on their programs. Wolverine Club members and their guests get in for $5. The luncheon will be catered by Tucanos a proud sponsor of Wolverine athletics.
