Lott Finishes 9th at Independent Championships

Men Results : Female Results

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas- Utah Valley State cross country runner Mark Lott finished ninth at the Independent Championships on Saturday. Lott had a time of 25:30.08 in the five mile race.

-€œHe ran a really smart race,-€ Utah Valley State coach Scott Houle said. -€œHe ran under control and was passing people after the first mile.-€

As a team the men finished in fourth place, just behind, North Dakota State, UC-David and South Dakota State. South Dakota State won the meet with 56 points.

After Lott, Joe Bendoski was the next Wolverine to cross the finish line. He ran 25:58.03 and finished in 16 th place. Ryan Gurr finished in 17 th place at 25:58.61. Michael Vick finished in 19 th place at 26:06.35. His time was three minutes and 39 seconds faster than last year.

Peter Holm was the other top 20 finisher by running 26:06.35 and finishing 20 th.

On the women-€™s side, Bekah Meier-Poppinga finished the three mile race with a time of 18:09.98. As a team the women finished in fifth place.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi won the women-€™s portion of the event while South Dakota State finished second, IPFW third and UC-David fourth.

-€œThe placing may not seem good but everyone ran well and improved their times,-€ Houle said. -€œThe competition this year was a lot better.-€
