Orem, UT -€“ Utah Valley State track and cross country star Michael Vick has been named to ESPN The Magazine-€™s Second Team Academic All-District team in men-€™s track and field and cross country. This award is the first for any Utah Valley State athlete.
Vick was a senior this past year and he currently carries a 3.95 GPA while majoring in Aviation. He earned a 4.0 GPA in the 2005 fall semester.
-€œAs an athlete he has shown that you can compete at a high level athletically while at the same time succeeding academically at a high level,-€ Utah Valley State track and cross country coach Scott Houle said.
Along with his strong performance in the classroom Vick also had a memorable year on the track. His best meet came at Pomona when he set a school, meet and course record in the 10,000 meter race. The Wolverine earned a time of 31:30.56.
