Outdoor Season Begins at Long Beach
March 16, 2007 Orem, Utah - The Utah Valley outdoor track season will begin Saturday as the Wolverines head to Long Beach to take on three schools. The Wolverines will compete against Long Beach State, Southern Utah and Cornell at the 66th Annual Long Beach Relays. UV will have 45 athletes competing to start the season. "This meet is smaller this year than it was last season," UV associate head coach Kirke Adamson said. "I think there is an opportunity for a great deal of success this weekend." The Wolverines are coming off an indoor season that saw many school records fall. Sprinters Chris Fogt and Mariama Salifu broke several school records. Freshman jumper Zach Cook also broke the indoor record for the long jump. "This is a good meet to open our season," Adamson said. "We have 45 athletes competing which will get them ready for the BYU Invitational in a few weeks." After Saturday's meet, UV will next compete in Provo at the BYU Invite. |
