Two Records Set at ISU Meet

Pocatello, Idaho - Two Utah Valley State records were broken at the Idaho State Dual series in Pocatello over the weekend. Mariama Salifu and Chris Fogt sprinted to school records in their respective 60-meter dash races. Both took first place in the finals. Salifu's first-place time was 7.51. Fogt took first with a time of 6.92. In addition to their school records, both Salifu and Fogt fared well in the 200 meters. Fogt recorded a first place finish with a time of 22.03 seconds while Salifu took second posting a 25.05 in the 200. Tawny Judkins also ran well in the 60 and 200 meters, posting times of 7.87 and 25.78, respectively. Freshmen duo Zach Cook and Mike Heninger had top-five finishes in the 60-meter hurdles with times of 8.65 and 8.70. Distance runners also fared well in Pocatello. Mary Nothum (5:11.78) and Karinne Bentley (5:12.13) placed second and third in the one-mile run for the women. Kirsten Barney fared well in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:32.21. Chase Englestead registered another first place finish for the Wolverines in the one mile run with a time of 4:19.95. Cook also placed second for Utah Valley in the long jump, with a leap of 6.69 meters. Gavin Shaw had another stellar day throwing for the Wolverines. Shaw took first in the weight throw with a heave of 17.64 meters. UV will return to action when the Wolverines' distance team returns to Pocatello for the Mountain States Games next week. The following week, UV will compete in the Weber State Invite. |
