Long Beach, Calif. - It was a hot start to the outdoor season as the Utah Valley track team had 23 athletes notch personal records at the 66th Annual Long Beach Relays.

"Chris Fogt annhilated the 100 meter record," associate head coach Kirke Adamson said. "It was one of the oldest school records."

Fogt's time of 10.53 beat the eight-year-old record of 10.66 previously held by Anthony Stewart.

In the women's 4x100 meter race, the Wolverines team of Kari Snow-Tupou, Tawny Judkins-Gause, Tiera Zaugg and Mariama Salifu won the race and came up just short of the school record with a time of 47.0. Gause came up just short of her personal best in the long jump with a leap of 18-8.

In the women's distance runs, Kirsten Barney posted a personal best in the 3000 meter steeplechase.

"Kirsten had a great race," Adamson said. "She beat her personal record by 20 seconds."

Chase Englestead and Mark Lott finished first and third, respectively in the men's 300 steeplechase. Englestead finished with a time of 9:11.72 while Lott ran a 9:25.66.

The Wolverines have a week off before competing at the BYU Invite on March 20.
