Provo, Utah - Two Utah Valley State tracksters came up with first place finishes as the Wolverines fared well at their opening meet.

On the men's side, freshman Zach Cook took first in the long jump with a 6.88 meter jump. Karinne Bentley took first place for the women in the one-mile run. Bentley posted a 5:12.29 time in the mile run to win first place.

Several other men fared well for the Wolverines. Senior Chris Fogt placed second in both the 60-meter sprint and the 310-meter run. Matt Echolls took third in the long jump while Zach Cook took fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.54.

Mariama Salifu shined for the women's sprinters. Salifu took third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.63. She also placed third in the 310-meter run.

Tiera Zaugg also had a top-five finish for the Wolverines. She placed fourth in the long jump (5.37 meters).

UV returns to action next week when the Wolverines head to Boise for the Boise State Invite.
