By virtue of its sizzling play of late, the UTEP soccer team has risen to a season-high 10th in the NCAA's Central Region, according to the rankings released by SoccerBuzz on Monday afternoon. UTEP had checked in 14th in last week's poll.

The Miners, 12-6-2, 6-2-1, are 3-0-1 in their past four matches. They are coming off an impressive weekend, in which they posted shutout victories at Houston (6-0) and at Rice (1-0). The triumph against the Owls was especially impressive, considering they were ranked 12th in the region entering the match and had been undefeated at home in 2007.

In fact, UTEP has notched three victories against squads which have been rated regionally at the time of the match.

The Orange and Blue have been regionally-ranked at some point in the season for a school-record four straight campaigns.

UTEP will be back in action on against Colorado College in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA tournament at 8 p.m. The tournament, which is slated to run Nov. 7-11, will be held in El Paso and all of the matches will be played at UTEP's University Field.
