Miners Check Into NSCAA Top-10 NCAA Central Region Rankings

For the first time in school history, the UTEP soccer team is ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Central Region top-10 poll.

The Miners were rewarded with a ranking of 10th in this week’s edition of the poll following the 2-0 victory against No. 25 Colorado College on Saturday.

The placement in the poll is well deserved, as the Orange and Blue have played splendidly throughout the entire campaign. Their win against the Tigers marked the second versus a ranked foe on the year, as they beat No. 17 Rice earlier in the season.

UTEP stands at 14-4 on the year- the program-best fifth consecutive campaign it has won at least 10 matches- while boasting the No. 12 scoring offense, the No. 23 defense in terms of shutout percentage and the 25th-highest winning percentage.

Additionally, junior netminder Jessica Salvi ranks second in the nation in save percentage (.941) and 12th in the country in goals against average (0.43), while freshman midfielder Anoop Josan checks in fifth nationally in assists per game (0.72).

The Miners will take to the road this weekend to wrap up the regular season. They will battle East Carolina on Oct. 27 before taking on Marshall on Oct. 29.
