UTEP's Kaletia Roberts was named to the preseason All-WAC soccer team, voted on by the head coaches and as announced by the league office Monday.

The junior midfielder from Dallas was the only Miner named to the squad. Last season, Roberts earned second-team All-WAC honors and was named to the WAC All-Tournament team.

Two-time WAC Player of the Year Natasha Kai of Hawaii was voted the preseason Player of the Year. SMU led the team with five players, while Rice and Hawaii had two players each.

UTEP will open fall practice on Thursday, Aug. 12. The Miners will open their 2004 campaign with an exhibition match against Cochise College on Thursday, Aug. 19. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at University Field.
