Kelly Parker Named To USL Team Of The Week
Former UTEP soccer star and current assistant coach Kelly Parker was named to the United Soccer League's Team of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Parker, who is in her third season playing for the Ottawa Fury, scored four goals and had an assist in a pair of victories last weekend. The Fury are currently tied for first in the W-League's Northern Division with a 9-1 record. Parker, the 2004 W-League MVP, is second in the league in points (29), tied for third in goals (11) and fourth in assists (7). Parker, who played at UTEP from 1999-2002 and holds the school record for career points, is joined on the Fury by Melissa Abraham a Miner signee who was a first-team All-Canadian selection at the University of Ottawa in 2004. Providing the most complete women's player pool in the world, the W-League is recognized as North America's best women's development organization. The W-League also gives the nation's best college players the opportunity to play alongside established international players while maintaining their collegiate eligibility. |
