Miner Shooters Take Second in Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The UTEP rifle team combined for a score of 4549 to take second at the Olympic Training Facility in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Saturday. Nevada took first with an aggregate score of 4629 and Air Force came up the tail end with 4512.

Josie Burzynski was the top shooter for the Miners in both air gun and smallbore. She fired a personal best 584 in air gun to help the Miners to a 2316 score.

She was followed by Amber Criss (582), Katie Crabtree (576) and Kayra Davila (574).

Burzynski totaled 569 in smallbore, also a personal record. Crabtree trailed with 557 and Davila and Criss fired 554 and 553, respectively.

UTEP will duel the two teams again on Sunday.
