Burzynski Signs National Letter of Intent to Shoot Rifle

July 9, 2007

EL PASO, Texas - Josie Burzynski, a native of Stratford, Conn., signed a national letter of intent to shoot rifle at UTEP announced head coach George Brenzovich on Tuesday.

"Josie is a very good shooter who will add to our team score power," Brenzovich said. "Enthusiastic and accomplished, Josie holds numerous national records and shoots both guns well."

Burzynski, a graduate from Bunnell High School, holds seven national records in indoor smallbore, including five records in 60-shot Three-Position and two in 40-shot Standing.

Burzynski helped lead her club team, the Knights of the Ten Ring, to a first place showing at the Connecticut State Gallery Championships in March of 2006. She followed with a first place prize in both the Expert division and Iron Sight Team Match division at the 2006 CSRRA Three-Position State Championships in August.

"With the talent we have and the talent we have brought in, this looks to be a banner year," said Brenzovich.
