UTEP junior Alex Obomese has been named to the watch list for the Ted Hendricks Award, presented to the nation's top defensive end.

The Houston native played in 12 games last season, starting against Rice. He recorded 36 tackles, seven tackles for losses and 4.5 sacks. He had a career-high seven tackles at Louisiana Tech. He also had a nine-yard sack versus Colorado in the EV1.net Houston Bowl.

Obomese is UTEP's projected starter at left end heading into the 2005 campaign. He is one of 24 players on the watch list for the Ted Hendricks Award, which is named for the former three-time All-American at the University of Miami and NFL Hall of Famer.
