UTEP's Robby Felix on Rimington Trophy Watch List
UTEP sophomore Robby Felix has been named to the 2006 watch list for the Dave Rimington Trophy, presented to the most outstanding center in college
football.
A native of Corona, Calif., Felix is one of 39 players on the watch list and one of seven candidates from Conference USA, joining Tulsa's Aaron Danenhauer, Southern Miss' Robby D'Angelo, Houston's Sterling Doty, UCF's Cedric Gagne-Marcoux, Marshall's Doug Legursky and Memphis' Stephen Schuh. Felix is one of five sophomores tabbed to the list, along with Alabama's Antoine Caldwell, Idaho's Adam Korby, Arkansas' Jonathan Luigs and Louisville's Eric Wood. The winner is selected by determining the consensus All-American center pick from four existing All-America teams (American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp Foundation, The Sporting News, Football Writers Association of America) and will be announced in January, 2007. The award is in its seventh year. Felix was chosen an honorable mention Freshman All-America by The Sporting News last season after starting all 12 games. He was also selected to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. UTEP averaged 422.8 yards per game in 2005, a school record. |
