Miners Ranked 20th Heading Into NCAAs
The UTEP women’s track and field team will enter then NCAA Outdoor Championships ranked tied for 20th by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Miners have four athletes entered in the competition. Senior All-American Fatimoh Muhammed was fifth at last year’s meet in the 800-meter run and brings the fourth-best time of 2:03.03 into the competition. All-American Erma Gene Evans placed sixth last year in the javelin. She ranks second in the country this season with a personal best and Saint Lucia national record of 185-2 (56.45). Sprinter Oludamola Osayomi ranks sixth in the 100-meter dash with a best time of 11.25, while All-American Nelly Tchayem holds the eight-best mark (44-0) in the triple jump in 2007. The NCAA Championships run June 6-9 in Sacramento, Calif. |
