Rachel Degener is entering her second season as the Utah diving coach. Degener's coaching experience includes a stint as an assistant at the University of Minnesota in 2000-01. Along with assisting the Gophers, Degener formed a youth diving program in Eden Prairie, Minn.
Degener has also been working with the Salt Lake Aquatic Program since April 2001, and is currently the head diving coach. She is a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
Degener competed for Minnesota from 1999-2000 in diving. At UM, she was a five-time Big Ten finalist in the one, three and 10-meter platform events. Before transferring to Minnesota, Degener competed at Brigham Young from 1996-98. While at BYU, Degener was a U.S. Junior Olympic national qualifier in 1996, and a finalist in the one-meter, three-meter and platform events at the 1998 WAC Championships.
The Utah native received her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology at Minnesota. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in education at the U.
