Bill McClure amassed a sterling coaching record at Samford, LSU, South Carolina and Abilene Christian. He served as an assistant U.S. track and field coach at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. In his career McClure coached 42 athletes, who won All-America honors a total of 63 times. In eight years as the head coach at Abilene Christian, his teams won seven titles each in track and cross country in the Southland Conference. McClure also served as secretary and chairman of the NCAA rules committee and NCAA representative to the USOC. |
