LAS VEGAS - Alex Thatcher had the lone win for Utah State tennis as both the men and the women competed at the Wilson/ITA Region Tennis Championships on Friday.

Thatcher beat Ivan Mafordin of Idaho State in two matches 7-6, 6-3 in the consolation singles first round.

Aggies Hannes Schenk, Dantley Young and Kevin Stanworth were all defeated in two sets in the singles second round late Thursday night.

Lindsey Bennion was the only female in action for the Aggies, who are competing in the same tournament iin Tulsa, Okla. Bennion was beaten in the consolation singles round of 32 by Michelle Heidbrink of New Mexico in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 10-4.

Both the men and the women will finish play at the Wilson Invitational on Sunday.
