USU Women's Tennis Takes On Idaho State Tuesday

Feb. 5, 2007

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's tennis team will play at Idaho State on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Pocatello, Idaho. The Aggies take a 1-2 record into the match, after losing to Boise State on Friday.

Last season USU defeated ISU, 7-0, capping a seven-match 12-day span in February, and then 5-2 in April.

Tuesday's match is Idaho State's first action of the spring season.

The Aggies have the last two Western Athletic Conference Players of the Week on their roster, as freshman Brianna Harris is the reigning player of the week, and senior Lauren Monson was the previous week's.

Harris is 2-1 in singles action this spring, after being the only member of the team who won her match in two sets as she posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory at number four singles. She also teamed with Bridgette Strickland to win at number three doubles as the Aggies defeated Montana, 5-2, on Jan. 26.

The next day against Montana State, Harris once again posted a two-set victory, winning her match 6-3, 6-0. She was one of just two Aggies to win a singles match as USU fell 5-2.

After playing ISU, the Aggies will return to action against University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Sat., Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. in Las Vegas and will play again Sun., Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. against University of California, Riverside in Las Vegas.

USU returns home to open a four-match homestand beginning Feb. 16 against Dixie State. Action is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club.
