Harris Named WAC Tennis Player of the Week

Feb. 2, 2007

LOGAN, Utah - Two times this season the Western Athletic Conference has awarded a women's tennis player of the week and two times a Utah State Aggie has won the honor.

Last week it was Lauren Monson and this week it is Brianna Harris.

Harris, a freshman from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, won both of her singles matches as the Aggies opened spring play against Montana and Montana State.

Against Montana, Harris was on the only member of the team who won her match in two sets as she posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory at number four singles. She also teamed with Bridgette Strickland two win at number three doubles as the Aggies defeated Montana 5-2.

The next day against Montana State, Harris once again posted a two-set victory, winning her match 6-3, 6-0. She was one of just two Aggies to win a singles match as USU fell 5-2.

Harris is 2-1 in singles action early in the season. The Aggies will continue play at Idaho State on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
