USU Women's Tennis To Begin Spring Play At Utah Tournament

Jan. 11, 2007

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's tennis team will open its season on Friday at the Utah Invitational. The Aggies will be sending all eight of their players to the individual tournament to play against individuals from Utah and Weber State.

"This invitational is a great way to break the ice this season and a good way to get the holiday rust off," said Aggie head coach Christian Wright. "This is a nice way for the women to open the season."

Senior Courtney Anderson is seeded third in the A Flight of the invitational. Last season Anderson finished 17-5 in singles and 13-10 in doubles. Her first match will be against Ashley Schapper from Weber State.

Seeded fourth in the B Flight is senior Lauren Monson, who will face Utah's McCaye Badger. Monson and her sister Erin are the second seeded doubles team.

The tournament will be held at the Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake City. This three-day tournament begins Fri. Jan. 12 and will conclude Sunday afternoon.

The Aggies will open up dual match play at Montana on Fri., Jan. 26 at 1 p.m.
