Women's Tennis Records Six Wins At BYU Invitational

PROVO, Utah - Utah State's women's tennis team had a solid showing in the consolation draw at the BYU Invitational on Friday as USU won three matches in singles action and three more matches in doubles play. Sophomore Courtney Anderson advanced to the consolation finals with a 6-2, 6-4 win in the third singles flight against Karla Pretorius of Weber State. Senior Carolyn Stephens also advanced to the consolation finals with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 win against Kate Ennenga of Weber State in the fourth singles flight, and sophomore Lauren Monson notched USU third singles win on Friday with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Lora Bradley of Weber State in the sixth singles flight. Sophomore Erin Manning was the lone Aggie competing in the main draw on Friday after defeating Allison Davis of New Mexico 6-3, 6-4 in the seventh singles flight the previous day. On Friday, Manning lost a 7-5, 6-0 decision to Jen Wencel of Utah. In doubles action, Anderson and Monson teamed up to win the consolation finals with an 8-2 win against Weber State, followed by a dramatic 9-7 win against Utah in the finals.
