USU Women's Tennis Tops Idaho Saturday, 4-3

RENO, Nev. - Behind two doubles wins and three singles win, Utah State women's tennis defeated Idaho, 4-3, Saturday at the Wilbur D. May Tennis Complex at Reno High School. The win was USU's second in a row at Reno after the Aggies lost to host Nevada, 6-1, on Thursday. USU improved to 6-7 on the year, winning four of the last seven matches. Lauren and Erin Monson nabbed the No. 1 singles for USU with a 9-7 win over Idaho's Patricia Ruman and Mariel Tinnirello. Courtney Anderson and Brianna Harris claimed the No. 2 singles win with a 9-8 (7-3) victory over UI's Efrat Leopald and Lauren Drew, before Bridgette Strickland and Dee-Dee Nelson lost at No. 3 singles to Laura Leoni and Lauren Shrubb, 9-7. In singles, Anderson beat Ruman at No. 1 (6-2, 4-6, 6-3) and Erin Monson topped Tinnirello (7-5, 6-2). UI's Leopald beat Harris at No. 3 (3-6, 1-6), but Nelson beat Drew (4-6, 6-1, 6-3) at No. 4. Lauren Monson lost to Shrubb (6-2, 2-6, 6-2) at No. 5 and Strickland fell to Berry (6-7, 4-6 (7-10)) at No. 6. Utah State returns home on Tuesday, April 10, hosting Idaho State at 1:30 p.m. in the Aggies' final home match of the season. UTAH STATE 4, IDAHO 3 DOUBLES
