Women's Tennis Suffers Rainey Loss At UNLV

LAS VEGAS - Utah State's women's tennis team fell to 4-4 Friday afternoon in a 7-0 loss to No. 30 UNLV in its first outdoor match of the season. UNLV improved to 4-1 with the win. Utah State lost all its singles matches in two sets. Lindsey Bennion fell to No. 21 Elena Gantcheva at the No. 1 position, 6-3, 6-1. Courtney Anderson lost her first match since January as she went up against Rebel Cindy Treber and fell 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot. Anderson currently leads the team with six wins this season, and her last loss came in her opening match on Jan. 21 against Allison Rainey of the No. 8 Washington Huskies. The Aggies will be in action again Saturday at 11 a.m. in Las Vegas where they will face off against UC Riverside, which is currently 2-7. Utah State tennis then will take a week off before heading to Hawai'i to play BYU Hawai'i, Hawai'i and Hawai'i Pacific on March 15, 16 and 17.
