Utah State's Women's Tennis Improves To 2-1

POCATELLO, Idaho - Lindsey Bennion led Utah State's women's tennis team to a 7-0 victory over Idaho State on Tuesday afternoon in Pocatello. Bennion defeated Denise Cockrell 6-1, 6-2 to win the No. 1 singles match. Bennion was also a part of the No. 1 doubles team with Carolyn Stephens that won 8-3. Utah State won its first point early by winning all three doubles matches. Courtney Anderson and Andrea Barker teamed to win the No. 2 spot 8-2. Jill Smith and Lauren Monson also took the No. 3 match 8-2. Aggie Jill Smith battled for her victory in the No. 2 singles match, loosing the first set 4-6, winning the second 7-6 (5) and taking the third set to 11-9. Stephens had no trouble at No. 3 and took it two sets, each with a score of 6-1. Anderson had even less trouble at No. 4 and didn't allow her opponent even a single point, winning both sets 6-0. Barker beat Kacie Peach of ISU 6-0, 6-2 for the No. 5 position, and Quinlan Hatch of ISU dropped the No. 6 spot to Monson 6-0, 6-4. The Aggies improve to 2-1 on the season. They play their next match at home against Oklahoma on Thursday at 1 p.m. Utah State 7, Idaho State 0
