Women's Tennis Suffers 5-2 Home Loss to Boise State Thursday

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis played a tough match against Boise State, before falling, 5-2, Thursday afternoon at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club. Aggies Courtney Anderson and Erin Monson both won their singles matches in two sets, earning the only points against the Broncos. USU now holds a record of 1-2. The Aggies had a shaky start after losing the doubles point, but senior Courtney Anderson won her match at the number one slot against BSU's Polina Kokoulina, 6-2, 6-3. With the win, Anderson improved to 3-0. Freshman Erin Monson stepped up for USU and shut down BSU's Bianca Jochimsen, 6-3, 6-4 at the number two slot. The Aggies fought hard, but lost the other four singles matches. "I couldn't ask for more effort," said USU head coach Chris Wright. "The girls are getting better, but we're still not where we know we can be." USU heads to Pocatello, Idaho to face Idaho State on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 1:30 p.m.
