USU Women's Tennis Swept By No. 28 BYU In Friday's Season Opener
Jan. 19, 2008
PROVO, Utah - Utah State women's tennis was shut out at Brigham Young Friday, 7-0, in the Aggies' first match of the season. Utah State falls to 0-1 after battling nationally ranked No. 28 BYU. Sophomore Britney Watts lost, 6-3 and 6-2, to Chie Hayasaka in singles, the only match that an Aggie scored in both sets. Double partners sophomore Brianna Harris and junior Bridgette Strickland also fell to BYU's Anastasia Surkova and Jennifer Miccoli at 8-2. "We have a young team and it was great to see where we're at at the beginning season. BYU is the strongest team we will probably play all season," USU head coach Christian Wright said. Utah State women will continue action at University of Utah on Saturday, Feb. 2.
