LOGAN, Utah - Utah State softball will be the sixth seed for the Western Athletic Conference Tournament Wednesday-Saturday, May 9-12 at Fresno, Calif., hosted by Fresno State at Bulldog Stadium. The Aggies will face seventh seed Louisiana Tech in Wednesday's first round.

USU will face La Tech at 4 p.m. (MT) Wednesday, with the winner advancing to play top seed and 13th-ranked Hawai'i, the regular season conference champion, in a second-round game slated for Noon (MT) Thursday. If USU loses to La Tech, the Aggies will face the loser of second seed and host Fresno State and fifth seed San Jose State in a loser-out contest on Thursday at 5 p.m. (MT).

The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m. (MT), with the WAC champion earning the league's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Utah State takes a 17-34 overall record into the WAC Tournament, after ending league play with a 5-13 record. USU was swept by New Mexico State this past weekend in a three-game series at Las Cruces, N.M.

Louisiana Tech is 21-36 overall after getting swept in a three-game series by Nevada, as the Lady Techsters ended conference play with a 3-15 WAC ledger.

The Aggies swept La Tech in the three-game series at Logan on April 13-14, USU's first WAC sweep and the first conference sweep since April 3-4, 2004 when the Aggies took three from Cal State Fullerton.
