LOGAN, Utah - Utah State junior Sara Fleming was named the Big West Softball Player of the Week for her efforts in leading the Aggies to three wins in five games last week.

Fleming is the second USU softball player in as many weeks to earn Big West honors, Leslie Higley was named Big West Co-Pitcher of the Week on April 18. Fleming is the first Aggie to be selected Big West Player of the Week since Breanne Smith was selected in 2002.

Fleming batted .533 (8-for-15) with three double, three home runs and eight RBI last week as Utah State split a two-game series with Southern Utah, then took two-of-three from conference-foe Cal State Fullerton. She finished the week with a slugging percentage of 1.333 and an on-base percentage of .650. The Aggies have now gone 10-5 since enduring a season-long eight-game losing streak.

USU will play a doubleheader at home against BYU tomorrow. The first game will start at 2 pm.
