Soggy Weather Leads To Cancellation Of Wednesday's Softball Game

April 20, 2005

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State head softball coach Lonny Sargent announced early this morning that USU's softball game with Utah, scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, will be cancelled. Sargent was unsure at the time whether or not a makeup date would be announced.

Utah State has won seven of its last 10 games and with a 14-24 record has tallied its most wins since going 19-38 during the 2000 season. Hurler Leslie Higley was named the Big West Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week after going 3-0 with a 0.37 ERA last week. She leads the team in wins (9-10), ERA (3.26) and strikeouts (56). Quela Leonhardt leads the Aggies at the plate with a .305 average to go along with 18 RBI.

Weather permitting, the Aggies will face Southern Utah in a doubleheader on Thursday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
