Soccer Wraps Up Non-Conference Season By Hosting Utah

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State soccer returns back home to wrap up its non-conference portion of the schedule on Saturday, Oct. 6 to host another in-state foe in Utah at 1 p.m. at Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field.

The Aggies take a 4-7 mark into today's match, after falling, 2-1, at 19th ranked BYU on Thursday evening.

Senior forward Dana Peart leads Utah State with 12 points on five goals and two assists, along with two game-winning goals. She is one of six Aggies to net a goal this season. Senior midfielder Abby Hunt, junior defender Alyssa Lowry, junior midfielder Candice Clark, sophomore midfielder Alysa Adams and freshman forward Lauren Hansen have the Aggies' other goals. Peart leads the team with 39 shots, including 22 on goal. Peart also leads the league with 39 shots on the season.

Between the pipes, junior goalkeeper Ali Griffin has tallied 38 saves on the year, including a season-high eight in the loss against Oregon. Griffin has a 1.32 goals against average and a .760 save percentage. Griffin ranks second in the WAC in shutouts per game (0.30) and is tied for second in shutouts with three.

The Utes are 7-2-2 overall, after defeating Utah Valley State, 6-0, on Wednesday afternoon. Utah is No. 10 on the NSCAA/adidas West Regional Poll. UU was also No. 10 in the West Regional soccerbuzz.com poll.

Returning 2006 Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year junior forward Adele Letro leads the Utes with 12 goals and three assists for 27 points. Letro was ranked at No. 2 in the nation in points per game (2.70). Junior midfielder Katy Reineke has 15 points off six goals and three assists. 2006 MWC Co-Freshmen of the Year sophomore forward Kelly Isleib has dished out a team-high 10 assists this season.

Sophomore netminder Lindsey Lee has made 33 saves while allowing 16 goals, and has a 1.51 GAA and a .673 save percentage. Lee has notched two shutouts on the season.

The Utes returned four starters and 16 letterwinners from the 2006 squad that posted a 16-5-1 overall ledger and a 7-0-0 Mountain West record, winning the MWC regular season crown for the second straight season. Utah advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive season, where they lost to Portland, 3-0, in the second round.

Utah State is 1-8 vs. Utah, with the lone win coming in 1997, a 1-0 OT contest. The Aggies are 1-3 vs. the Utes at home. Overall, Utah State has a 13-18-2 record vs. in-state opponents.

Counting the exhibition match on Aug. 18, Utah State has nine home matches this season. Since moving to the Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field in 2002, the Aggies have gone 22-15-9 at home. In the two years prior to their move to Bell Field, the Aggies were just 6-12 at home. They have gone 9-2-3 against conference opponents since bedding down at Bell Field.

The Aggies kick-off Western Athletic Conference action on Friday, Oct. 12, traveling to Moscow, Idaho to tangle with Idaho at 4 p.m. (MT). USU then returns home on Sunday, Oct. 14, to host Boise State at Noon at Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field.
