Parenti Ties School Record On Vault As USU Defeats California 195.325-192.350

LOGAN, Utah - Jessica Parenti claimed her third straight all-around title en route to leading Utah State to a 195.325 to 192.350 victory against California here Monday night. The Aggies scored better than a 195.000 for the third straight meet. Parenti opened the meet by winning the vault with a school-record tying 9.950. She then capped the night by claiming the floor with a career high matching 9.900. In between she tied for second on the beam with a 9.825 and tied for fifth on the bars with a 9.750. Parenti's vault score matched Deanna Palmer from 1997 and Nicole Kilpatrick from 2003. The redshirt sophomore scored a 9.900 on the vault in USU's previous meet at Texas Woman's.
The Aggies opened the meet with a 49.050 on the vault. That score was a season best as well as the seventh best mark in school history. USU continued to score well, posting a 48.700 on the bars for its second best mark this year. After a 48.525 on the beam, the Aggies closed the meet with a 49.050 on the floor to clinch the victory. For USU, the 195.325, was its third best score of the year as the Aggies produced a 195.900 against Texas Woman's and a 195.450 against Boise State in the last two meets. In addition, Megan Tschida scored a career high on the bars with a 9.800, while Rachael Mandy matched her career best score of 9.850 on the vault. Utah State will travel to Brigham Young to meet the Cougars Thursday, March 10. That meet is slated to start at 6 p.m. After the trip to Provo, USU will conclude its home season with a meet against Southern Utah on Monday, March 14 at 6:45 p.m. UTAH STATE 195.325, CALIFORNIA 192.350 Vault USU 49.050; UC 48.625 1.
