Utah State's Track and Field Team Opens 2005 Season

LOGAN, UTAH - Utah State men's and women's track and field team will travel to BYU to open its 2005 season this Thursday and Friday to compete in the BYU invitational. Utah, Utah Valley State and Portland State will also be sending their track and field teams to compete.

USU's track and field head coach Gregg Gensel said only a few members of the team will be going and he is excited to see where the team is at this point early in the season.

The events will start at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday with the women's pentathlon and the men's heptathlon. Men's and women's throwing events will conclude Thursday's events.

On Friday men's heptathlon will resume at 10 a.m. followed by the jumping events, including the pole vault. The running events will begin at 1 p.m. and should finish around 5:30 p.m.

All events will be held in the Smith Fieldhouse and the meet free to the public.
