Aggies Opened NCAA Track Meet With Three Placings In The 20s

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Three Utah State Aggies competed on the first day of the NCAA Track and Field Championships here, and while all three placed higher than their seedings, none of the three advanced past the first round in their events.

Vance Twitchell and Stacie Lifferth each finished 21st in the men's and women's steeplechase respectively, while Justin Wickard placed 25th in the 110 meter hurdles. All three athletes placed higher than their seedings as Twitchell was ranked 22nd, Lifferth 22nd and Wickard 26th.

Four more Aggies will take to the track on Thursday as DJ Smith will compete in the 100, Amber Judd will run the 400 hurdles and Kristen Guymon and Jennifer Twitchell will compete in the 1,500. Lacey Hulbert will compete in the heptathlon on Friday and Saturday.

110 Hurdles - 25. Justin Wickard, 14.46
Steeplechase - 21. Vance Twitchell, 8:57.74
