Utah State Gains Eight First Place Finishes At Sacramento State

SACRAMENTO, Calif.- Utah State begin the outdoor track season with a dominating performance at Sacramento State on Saturday. Jill Steele, Amy Egan, Katie Thatcher, Becki Bostwick, and the 4x400 relay team gained first place victories for the womens team, and Justin Wickard, Steve Strickland, and Zack Lloyd achieved first place wins for the mens team.

In the 1500m, Amy Egan, Sara Dimmick, and Stacie Lifferth swept the race taking home first, second, and third respectively. Jill Steele finished first in the 800m with a time of 2:12.20. Katie Thatcher accomplished a first place victory in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.53. With a time of 3:53.00, the Utah State 4x400 relay team completed a first place win.

Justin Wickard and Dustin Vetica claimed the top two times in the 110m hurdles by running a 14.25 and a 14.58. Steve Strickland and teammate Carsen Campbell also took the first and second spots in the 3000m Steeplechase. Zack Lloyd won the shot put with a throw of 17.69m.

Utah State distance runners competed at the Stanford Invitational on Friday night. Tiffany Strickland came in ninth place in the 3000m steeplechase, and Mike Nielson ran 29:06.11 in the 10,000m to finish in 22nd.
