    Gysin concluded her career as one of the top players at USC...she was a six-year senior after missing her first two seasons due to injuries...finished her career with 1,313 kills with 51 service aces, 1,034 digs, 211 blocks (89 solo, 122 assisted) and 1,514.0 points...her 1,514.0 points place her second on USC's career list...her 3.59 career points per set average places her seventh on USC's all-time list...her 3,675 attacks places her seventh on USC's all-time list...her 89 solo blocks puts her in a tie for eighth place on USC's career list.

    Gysin finished her senior season by earning AVCA All-America honorable mention...she also was named to the All-Pac-10 Conference Team, the second time she received the honor...recorded 310 kills (3.30 kps), 21 assists (0.22 aps), eight aces (0.09 saps), 277 digs (2.95 dps), 52 blocks (0.55 bps) and finished second on the team with 355.0 points (3.78 pps)...had two solo blocks in a 3-1 loss to No. 3 Hawai'i in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at the Galen Center to break into the USC career list for solo blocks...had a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs in a 3-0 sweep on Dec. 4 against Oklahoma in the first round of the NCAA Tournament...saved her best match for Senior Day on Nov. 28 against No. 19 Arizona when she recorded a career-high 23 kills, adding 16 digs in the four-set victory...posted a double-double the day before against Arizona State with 15 kills and 10 digs...had 15 kills and a career-high 20 digs in a five-set win on Nov. 13 against No. 4 Washington...had 13 kills and 17 digs against No. 7 UCLA in a five-set loss on Nov. 6...recorded a double-double on Oct. 30 at No. 4 Stanford with 13 kills and 15 digs in a four-set loss...posted 10 kills and 13 digs against No. 12 Oregon on Oct. 24 in a 3-0 sweep at the Galen Center...had 14 kills and 15 digs in a five-set loss on Oct. 17 at No. 4 Washington...set a season high with six blocks (three solo, three assisted) on Oct. 9 at No. 16 UCLA, adding 15 digs...set a career high with 21 kills in a five-set win against No. 9 Cal on Oct. 2 at the Galen Center...also had nine digs and four blocks (including three solo) in the match...followed up with 19 kills, seven digs and three solo blocks in a 3-0 loss to No. 11 Stanford...posted 19 kills and tied her personal best of 19 digs on Sept. 26 at Arizona State while hitting .314 and adding three blocks...in a 3-0 sweep of No. 20 UC Irvine, she recorded the double-double with a team-high 12 kills and 10 digs...on Sept. 4 against No. 21 Pepperdine, she had nine kills, eight digs and two blocks in a 3-0 sweep...recorded 17 kills and nine digs in a five-set loss on Aug. 28 at Michigan State.

    In her 2008 junior season, Gysin served as team captain and earned Volleyball Magazine All-America second team honors to become USC's 30th All-American...she had 334 kills (3.15 kps) with 245 digs (2.31 dps) and 47 blocks (0.47 bps), including 25 solo blocks...earned 2008 All-Pac-10 Conference honors, the first time she received the honor...on Dec. 6, she became the 16th player in USC history to reach the 1,000-kill mark in her career...posted double-digit kills in 12 of 13 matches from Oct. 11 through Nov. 22...had 11 kills and seven digs against No. 7 Nebraska on Aug. 31 at the Runza/AVCA College Showcase in Omaha, Neb...named to the Holiday Inn LA City Center Trojan Invitational all-tournament team (Sept. 4-6) after posting double digit kills in all three matches, including 16 kills in a 3-1 win against Oklahoma...led the team in kills (12) in a 3-0 sweep of Ohio State on Sept. 12 at the Galen Center...named most valuable player at the West Point Challenge (Sept. 18-19) after recording 23 kills in two matches...had 13 kills and eight digs against Dartmouth and later that evening, posted 10 kills for a .474 hitting clip (10-1-19) with six digs and a solo block...in the Pac-10 opener against No. 4 UCLA on Sept. 26, she led the Trojans with a team-high 16 kills and recorded 16 digs in the five-set victory...tallied 16 kills and a season-high 18 digs in a five-set loss on Oct. 11 to No. 10 Washington...recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs while posting a season-high four blocks (one solo, three assists) on Oct. 19 at Arizona...had 12 digs and 16 digs while hitting .290 (12-3-31) on Oct. 24 against No. 5 Stanford....her season-high 18 kills aided the Women of Troy in a five-set upset over No. 4 Cal on Oct. 25 at the Galen Center...had 17 kills, 14 digs and a career-high 61 attempts in a five-set win over Oregon State on Nov. 1...tallied 13 kills, 10 digs and two solo blocks on Nov. 9 in a three-game sweep at Washington State...tied for the team lead with 14 kills and hit .321 (14-5-28), adding seven digs in a 3-0 sweep on Nov. 15 against Arizona State...posted 13 kills and 11 digs on Dec. 5 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against No. 15 San Diego...prior to the season, Gysin received a medical waiver from the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility and gave her two seasons to play.

    As a 2007 sophomore, she was second on the team with 327 kills (3.00 kpg)...recorded eight double-doubles during the season...also had 219 digs (2.01 dpg) and 54 blocks (0.50 bpg)...on Aug. 25 against St. John's, she recorded 17 digs against the Red Storm and had 15 kills against No. 14 Duke on Aug. 31...recorded her third double-double of the season on Sept. 28 at No. 10 Cal with 14 kills and 16 digs...one of her best efforts came on Oct. 2 against UC Irvine when she posted a season-high 19 kills and a career-high 19 digs in the five-game win...added another double-double on Oct. 5 at No. 5 UCLA with 11 kills and 15 digs...had 16 kills and 15 digs on Oct. 18 at Washington State and followed with a 10-kill, 16-dig performance at No. 5 Washington...with USC's home wins on Oct. 26 and 27 against No. 9 Cal and No. 3 Stanford, Gysin had 18 and 16 kills, respectively...had 11 kills and hit .409 (11-2-22) on Nov. 9 at Oregon State...had 13 kills and six digs in a five-game win over No. 5 Washington on Nov. 16...recorded 16 kills and three blocks on Dec. 1 against No. 25 Long Beach State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament...earned Gainesville (Fla.) All-Regional Team honors...recorded 16 kills with three solo blocks while hitting .359 (16-2-39) against No. 13 St. John's and hit .379 (15-4-29) with 15 kills against No. 3 Texas in the regional final...had eight kills on 40 swings with three digs, a solo block and two block assists on Dec. 13 in the NCAA semifinal against No. 1 Stanford.

    In her first full season of collegiate volleyball after missing two seasons, Gysin earned All-Pac-10 honorable mention recognition in her 2006 redshirt sophomore season...third on the team with 342 kills for a 3.03 kpg average...hit .210 on the season...second on the team with a 2.59 dpg average and registered 293 digs overall...had 27 assists (0.24 apg), 20 service aces (0.18 sapg) and 55 total blocks (0.49 bpg)...second on the team with 23 solo blocks...recorded 10 double-doubles for kills and digs, including 11 kills and 10 digs on Sept. 3 against No. 11 Tennessee and a 14 kill, 13 dig match on Sept. 15 against No. 14 Purdue...started out of the blocks in fine fashion with 13 kills, seven digs and two solo blocks in USC's 3-0 win on Aug. 26 at Texas State...after leading USC with a team-high 14 kills on Sept. 9 against St. John's with a .406 hitting performance, she earned all-tournament team honors at the Gamecock Invitational...on Sept. 29 against No. 4 Washington, Gysin had a career-high 20 kills (20-6-48, .292) with five digs and one solo block and recorded 13 kills and 16 digs in the second match against the Huskies on Oct. 26 in Seattle...had 17 kills and 14 digs in a 3-1 win against Oregon on Nov. 24 at Galen Center...recorded 10 kills and 12 kills, respectively, in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament against Ole Miss and BYU...finished the season with 11 kills and 19 digs in the NCAA Third Round at Hawai'i.

    In July, Jessica Gysin suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee and missed her entire 2005 redshirt freshman season.

    Gysin severely sprained her left ankle in the first week of training camp as a 2004 freshman and played in only one match...she was sidelined for the first six weeks of the season and made her collegiate debut on Sept. 24 against Washington State...she aggravated the injury and did not play for the remainder of the season.

    Gysin is a 2004 graduate of St. Francis High in Mountain View, Calif...A four-year volleyball letterwinner...prep teammate of USC middle blocker Diane Copenhagen...helped lead prep squad to four-straight CIF state championships (St. Francis competed as Div. III in 2003, Div. I in 2002 and Div. II in 2000 and 2001) and the 2002 mythical national championship with a 33-1 record...four-time state championship all-tournament team selection, honored as MVP in 2001 and 2003...named 2004 Volleyball magazine Fab 50 selection...as a senior, she was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame as the 2003 High School Female Athlete of the Year...enjoyed her greatest success as a junior, earning honors such as 2002 California Gatorade Player of the Year, CIF Division II State Player of the Year, San Jose Mercury News CCS Player of the Year (an honor she also garnered in 2001), West Catholic Athletic League Player of the Year, Cal-Hi Sports Player of the Year (an honor she also won in 2001), Student Sports National Junior of the Year and High School Sports Focus Player of the Year (an honor she also won in 2001)...as a sophomore, was named Volleyball magazine's 2001 National Player of the Year and Student Sports National Sophomore of the Year...as a freshman, she was recognized as the San Jose Mercury News Freshman of the Year...played six years of club volleyball with City Beach and two years with Vision...led Vision to fifth place finish at the 2002 Junior Olympics and earned Junior Olympic All-American honors in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003...named MVP in 2001...two-year member of the National Honor Society (2001, 2002).

    Jessica Ann Gysin was born in Santa Cruz, Calif...daughter of Gary Gysin and Karen Gysin, she has one younger brother, Connor, one stepbrother, Hunter, and a stepsister, Jordan...both parents played professional beach volleyball...father played domestically with the AVP in 1984, 1988 and 1989, and internationally with the FIVB in 1994...mother played with the WPVA in 1987-91...father played collegiate volleyball at UC Santa Barbara and UC Santa Cruz...has been involved with various community service activities, including volunteering at a local senior citizen home, the St. Simons After School Kids Program and the Urban Ministry soup kitchen..favorite television shows are 24, Gossip Girl and America's Next Top Model...received her bachelor's degree from USC in July of 2008 with a major in political science and a minor in communications.
