    THIS SEASON: One of the nation?s top swimmers, the versatile 2003 senior Michala Kwasny is career nine-time All-American who owns USC records in the 200y and 200m fly, a Trojan pool record in the 200y IM and also shares five relay records

    2002: Kwasny was a three-time All-American as a 2002 junior, taking fifth in the 400y IM (4:17.53), seventh in the 200y fly (1:57.91) and helping the squad to a seventh-place finish in the 400y free relay. She was also 10th in the 200y IM (1:59.73) and 11th in the 200y free relay. Both relays set school records ? At the 2002 Pac-10s, she successfully defended her title in the 400y IM by winning in 4:09.48, a personal best. She became only the third Pac-10 swimmer ever to accomplish the feat. The others were Janet Evans (1990-91, Stanford) and Chris Jeffrey (1994-1995, ASU). She was also second in the 200y IM (1:59.11) and fourth in the 200y fly (1:57.33) ? Her 4:09.48 in the 400y IM was third best in the country last year.

    2001: Kwasny posted three Top 3 finishes at the 2001 NCAA Championships as a junior, taking second in the 400y IM (4:10.61) and third in both the 200y IM (1:57.60) and the 200y fly (1:55.08) ... Kwasny?s time in the 200y fly set a USC record, breaking the mark of 1:56.64 set by teammate Jana Krohn in the prelims of the event earlier in the day ... Additionally, Kwasny helped the Trojans to a seventh in the 400y medley relay and also competed on USC?s 200y, 400y and 800y free relays that all reached the consolation finals ... At the 2001 Pacific-10 Championships, Kwasny won her first career conference title by taking the 400y IM in 4:16.41. She also was fourth in the 200y fly (1:59.93) and sixth in the 200y IM (2:02.53) ... At the 2001 U.S. Spring Nationals, Kwasny was 13th in the 400m IM (4:52.49) and 15th in the 200m fly (2:17.20) ... She also swam on two U.S. national title-winning relays, helping USC to victories in the 400m medley relay and in the 800m free relay ... In the latter event, Kwasny swam the leadoff leg and helped the quartet to a USC record of 8:14.90.

    2000: A two-time 2000 All-American and a two-time 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials finalist, Kwasny made quite a splash as a 1999-2000 freshman ... At the 2000 NCAAs, Kwasny took sixth in the 200m IM (2:13.38, sc) and helped USC to an eighth-place mark in the 400m medley relay ... She also took 15th in the 200m fly (2:13.49, sc) and 21st in the 400m IM (4:48.36, sc) ... She then turned it on for the Olympic Trials. Kwasny made an impression on the national scene by taking sixth in the 400m IM (4:50.04) and seventh in the 200y IM (2:17.72). She also finished 17th in the 200m fly (2:15.91) and 22nd in the 100m fly (1:01.77) ... At the 2000 Pac-10s, Kwasny took fourth in both the 200y IM (2:00.76) and the 200y fly (1:58.41) and was fifth in the 400y IM (4:18.08). Her time of 1:59.37 in the 200y IM is a USC pool record.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Kwasny prepped at R. Nelson Snider High in Fort Wayne, Ind., where she won the state title in the 200y IM four times and the state title in the 100y fly three times and holds the state record in both events (2:00.99 in the 200y IM and 55.40 in the 100y fly) ... Kwasny was the sixth Indiana swimmer to win the same event four times (three others were also Trojans: Lindsay Benko, Emily Ayers and Allison Bock) ... She had a fantastic summer in 1999, reaching the finals in four events at the U.S. Summer Nationals. She took second in the 200m IM (2:16.61), third in both the 400m IM (4:46.31) and the 200m fly (2:13.51) and seventh in the 100m fly (1:01.39) ... She was a two-time consolation finalist at the 1998 U.S. Spring Nationals in the 400m IM and the 100m fly and also was a participant at the National Distance Camp in 1998 ... She competed in four events at the 1998 U.S. Open, taking 13th in the 400m IM (4:50.72, SC), 17th in the 200m fly (2:15.94, SC) and 21st in the 100m fly (1:03.49, SC) ... Kwasny competed in the 200m IM at the 1996 Olympic Trials ... Kwasny played midfielder on her high school soccer team for two years and was a Scholastic All-America for four years.

    PERSONAL: Her birthday is Dec. 6, 1980. She is majoring in psychology with a minor in business ... She is known as ?Micky? or ?Kwas.?
