    THIS SEASON: A fine swimmer in all strokes, but noticeably improving in the fly and IM, 2005 senior Marisa Kozak has been a versatile competitor for the Trojans and figures to have a prominent role on the team.

    2004: Kozak scored for the second consecutive season at the NCAA Championships as a 2004 junior, finishing 15th in the 200m fly (2:12.86, SCM) on the first day she'd ever raced in the event competitively. She was also 23rd in the 100m fly (1:01.02, SCM) and 46th in the 200m IM (2:16.74). She also anchored the 200m free relay ... At the 2004 Pac-10 Championships, Kozak won the consolation final of the 100y fly and was 12th in the 200y back and 20th in the 200y IM ... Kozak competed in three events at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials, her efforts highlighted by a 22nd finish in the 100m fly (1:02.10, LCM). She was also 31st in the 200m back (2:19.74, LCM) and 34th in the 100m back (1:05.00, LCM).

    2003: Kozak made her NCAA Championships debut as a 2003 sophomore, scoring individually and on relays. She finished 16th in the 100y back (55.31) and was 24th in the 100y fly (54.20) and 27th in the 200y back (1:59.74). She led off USC's ninth-place 200y medley relay and also swam on Troy's 17th-place 200y free relay ... Kozak was a two-time finalist at the 2003 Pac-10 Championships, finishing sixth in the 200y back (1:58.60) and eighth in the 200y IM (2:04.77). She was also 13th in the 100y fly (54.93). Her 200y back time and her prelim in the 200y IM (2:02.67) were both season bests and NCAA consideration marks ... She raced in three events at the 2003 U.S. Spring Nationals, taking 15th in the 100m back (1:04.37), 24th in the 100m fly (1:02.99) and 37th in the 200m back (2:21.31) ... She competed in four events at the 2003 U.S. Summer Nationals, her efforts highlighted by a 15th in the 100m back (1:04.47) and a 22nd in the 200m back (2:19.36) ... She earned Pac-10 All-Academic first team honors with a 3.89 GPA.

    2002: Kozak competed in three events at the 2002 Pac-10s as a freshman, reaching the consolation finals of both backstroke events. She was 10th in the 200y back (1:59.93) and 12th in the 100y back (56.10). She was also 29th in the 200y IM (2:05.75). Her season's best marks in the 100y back (55.95) and 200y back (1:59.68) were both NCAA consideration marks, but she just missed qualifying for the NCAA Championships ... At the 2002 U.S. Summer Nationals, she reached the consolation finals of the 100m and 200m back, taking 15th (1:04.67) and 16th (2:20.28), respectively. She was also 29th in the 100m fly.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Kozak prepped at Mountain View High in Bend, Ore. She competed at the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials, reaching the semifinals of both the 100m and 200m backstroke ... She was the Oregon state champion in the 100y back in 1999, 2000 and 2001 and won the 100y free in 2001. She also served as the captain for her team as it won the state title ... Most recently, Kozak earned a pair of 13th-place finishes at the 2001 U.S. Spring Nationals, swimming in both the 100m (1:04.83) and 200m back (2:18.37).
