Senior Irene Cho, the Women of Troy's hottest performer all season, opened the Guadalajara (Mexico) Invitational tied for second place with a 70 to help USC to second as well on Monday (March 6) at the Guadalajara C.C. in an event hosted by California.

USC posted a combined 292 (+4), one shot back of leader UCLA. Duke (293) and Georgia (294) crowded the top of the leader board as well.

Cho got off to a slow start with a 38 on the front nine, but rebounded to fire off 32 on the back nine, low for the round, for a 2-under 70. She and two others are one shot back of Arizona's Paige Mackenzie.

Sophomore Paola Moreno is tied for fifth (72, par) while junior Catalina Marin is tied for eighth (73, +1). Sophomore Dewi-Claire Schreefel's 77 (+5) has her tied for 35th while junior Veronica Felibert (78, +6) is tied for 38th.

Senior Tanya Dergal, competing as an individual whose scores don't count toward the team competition, is tied for 16th with a 74 (+2).

Dergal had a team-best five birdies in the first round while Cho and Moreno had four each.
